Do you think the club would support an 'ultras' type supporters group to improve the atmosphere?

Just been speaking to an Aberdeen fan about their Aberdeen Red Ultras. He was educating me about a group of their supporters who have taken it upon themselves to improve the atmosphere and bring a little more colour to their passion for Aberdeen FC. Take a look at their website, there's some superb photos. http://www.redultras.net/history There's quite a few clubs who have similar groups, Crystal Palace's http://www.holmesdalefanatics.net seem to be one of the more advanced in England even Accrington Stanley have one!

What do people think the chances would be to set one up for our own Red Army? There's obviously the passion out there and having seen some of the innovative creations on our big day out in Cardiff last season there's definitely the creativity? Any views? Personally I reckon it would be great if Barnsley had such a group, hey it may even encourage some of the fans in the East Stand to sing?

If we had such a group what would we call it and what would the slogan be?

    Here's a first crack.

Wasn't having a go at the east stand ultras Just a passing comment but it has the highest capacity of all our stands.

Do you think they'll let the Curva Nord Ultras have free tickets if we promise not to burn Shep's house down?

Would we be able to throw a moped off the East Stand Upper tier?

We should put away fans in the East Stand Lower so that we have something to aim at.

Woe betide the players if they don't beat Norwich on Saturday. Hundreds of fans will line the perimeter of the training ground on Monday while yet other fans proceed to kick the $hit out of them.

    BARNSLEY MOPED CURVA EAST ULTRAS.

It's not the violence I'm on about...

...or the bribing of club officials, or the joining in with far right groups. It's the preservation of our songs, chants and terrace culture. It was a suggestion to improve the atmosphere and channel the enthusiasm and creativity of the Oakwell faithful, that's all. Plus, who drives mopeds in Barnsley these days?

It went down like a lead balloon at Leeds

At first folk thought they were another bunch of Hoolies like the Service crew, even the Service Crew thought they were rival hoolies, then they all had a big love in and everything went back to being quiet again.

Like I said above, I'm not advocating it being a firm, or another 'Ora Stand Band' but something...

...different, more subtle. The last gangway of the East Stand lower next to the Ponte being a designated singing area? The designing of some decent flags to take to away days, funded by the selling of some t-shirts, as lets face it the merchandise in the club shop is hardly what you'd call up to date? A seperate site to collect and preserve some of the classic songs and showcase photos from away games? It was just a thought having had a quick scan at those websites.

only problem I can see is...

people sit in the East Stand because they want to watch the game. If they wanted to sing they'd sit in the ponty, don't think people would appreciate trying to be forced.

In all seriousness, I think it'd be a brilliant idea.

Barnsley are a special club (but everyone says that about their club!) It'd be great if we could DEMONSTRATE how special we are by making a non-stop noise and turning at least part of the 'Well into a riot of colour. Am all for it!
