I'm here to be shot down but for me you don't. Its all about a partnership and most good partnerships have a goalscorer and someone who wins the ball and does the running. Quinn and Phillips, Wilkinson and Hendrie For me both Odejayi and Macken are good players. What we need is a goalscorer to play in and around them, like for example a Phillips, Robert Earnshaw or a Billy Sharp (all out of our price range but that kind of player). I think its too easy to criticise Odejayi for not scoring goals. He is the worker target man player, with the goal scorer missing
How many does Odejayi set up? Macken certainly does but does KO? I can't think of many where he has set others up or put others into positions only for them to miss it.
no as long as hes setting up/helping the one alongside him score a load. otherwise, they need goals, thats what they're there for anyway
I personally think ark is right. You're quite right about Oddjob tho - so far. He wins a lot of headers and for me all he needs is someone to run in behind him, to read where the ball will go. Macken for me hasn't done that, but probably isn't quick enough either. Needs a pacey player like you say in the mould of Earnshaw.
I agree with that. For me this has been one of Davey's biggest mistakes of the season, he spent far too long trying to play two big guys together and it didn't work, it didn't work when he tried it in December and it still wasn't working in May. Odejayi though, like Windy once said, may win a lot of headers but he doesn't direct them towards people very often. He tends to just head it towards their defence.
Agree with the point about 2 big guns, but i think they are both good enough to be in the squad in that role. We just need the fox in the box to compliment whichever one starts. What I would say about Odejayi is that I think he actually puts the ball in the right areas but Macken plays too deep to pick them up and Ferenci just doesn't get in to the right positions. It would be good to see Odejayi with someone like Earnshaw. I think that would scare defences
Aaron Mclean??? scored a lot of goals this season, or have we learnt our lesson when it comes to lower league strikers

Yeah thats what I meant mate, if he had someone making the runs in behind then they wouldn't all be to the defenders, some would get to the forward runner. Macken doesn't make those runs and never will. He's more of a (for the want of a better comparison) Sheringham than an Andy Cole. For me those 2 cannot play together, but a pacey goalscorer (which everyone is after) alongside either of those two i'm sure would work wonders.
A natural left winger is also a big priority too IMO.

surely if youre a striker you've got to score goals otherwise you're just a target man who holds the ball up and maybe occasionally scores.
I think Maclean might be worth a look depending on his price. Looks a lively player. But left with the question of whether L2 players are good enough. Although he has scored enough goals to make you notice him, which Odejayi didn't even in L2 (as a comparison).
we could offer KO in part ex, i'd really like to see nicky maynard as crewe have a history of producing good player but i think they would be asking a couple of mil for him
Cant see them getting 2m to be honest. Nearer a mill. Still too much for us to risk on a lower league player.
agree to an extent promotion season Hayes contributed to over 30% of our goals through scoring and assists but utimatley strikers get judge on goals by the majoirty of fickle fans no matter how many they setup!
You either need a lot of money or a lot of luck to find two strikers that compliment each other, unfortunately were in the luck bracket.
RE: How many does Odejayi set up? He does not set them up and even worse scores very very occasionally
