are you having connection speed problems???

mine is extremely slow, and the speeds are just marginally higher than dialup, and to say i have a 2mb package i think that there is something wrong.

is anyone else experiencing these problems, or can anyone help me solve the problem???

    i did this last night

    Downstream was 46.7 Kbps

this is marginally more than dialup (42Kpbs) i do beleive.

its got to be my connection because it does the same whether im using my PC or Laptop.

    its AOL, theyre a joke!

    Call technical support

Just check they havent implemented a high use block or something similar, other possibilities are you have used your monthly allowance and so reverted to "download speeds" - though I dont think AOL have implemented that

other possibility is that there are too many other users that is really pulling down the speed. (see the netmeter stuff below - if when you download a file its coming in short bursts thats probably the cause)

Install netmeter free from http://readerror.gmxhome.de/ (use the newer beta version) and monitor the connection with that - just incase you have something running on your pc that is using up your bandwidth you arent aware of.

Good luck with AOL support though :pff

    Great stuff

Iam looking to up-grade to broadband. First hand experiences over the last two days:
    Talk/Talk = utter *****.
AOL = little better than dial-up.

Any other ISP's I can eliminate?

[IMG] i will need lots of luck with them call centres. Indian one is a nightmare, and the Irish one is even worse, and dont even get me started with the online help thing.

i have got unlimited downloads per month (AO-Fooking-L Platinum) so i cant see that being the cause of my problems, however i will give netmeter a whirl though, so cheers for that.

sooner i can get free sky broadband the better it will be for me [IMG]

    Orange

Been with Orange for a few months now, and no probs. My Dad has been with Wanadoo (Old Orange) for nearly a year and he hasn't had any probs either, also great deals with Orange Mobiles and broadband at the moment.

Good luck getting rid of AOL , my brother just changed to Virgin from AOL and it took months before he could get rid of them. They are a complete and utter pain in the `arris.
We have Telewest blueyonder and have no gripes withn it at all now, well once they changed the modem anyway.:pff

Feckin Indian call centers, ignorant ******** the lot

why the hell do we pay over the odds for everything and have to put up with these goons when something goes wrong, every answer is like a script being spouted back after you've repeated your name and address 5 times so they can understand you.
