If BFC sold out every home game then our operational costs for hosting games would be more than £2.645m. Let's just clarify that further. The costs of opening the stadium and policing it would for one season be £2.645 MILLION. That isn't the cost for players wages, isn't for the maintenance of the stadium throughout the week, isn't for the training academy or anything like that. Nothing to do with the travel and hotel costs of away games. No this is just the cost of opening the stadium on a saturday to allow fans to watch a game of football. OVER £2.645m anyone believe that? Because I don't.
I wouldn't know the exact figure but I would be absolutely astonished if it was anywhere near what it says in the chronicle. Do you believe that adding an extra 1,000 home fans on top of our ordinary attendance will add over 5,000 to the clubs costs for that game?
By the way, Wigan had an average attendance of 9,751 in 2004/2005 and their policing costs were £283,082 which were considered unreasonably high compared to other clubs who's bill was much smaller.
