Does the Championship really need a week off. Fair enough if a club loses more than two players but that can't affect many times in the Championship (well, certainly not us!)

Yes, they should bring in the 3 players away to call it off rule or something, didnt they used to? although this break has helped us with the injuries.

Not really....I quite enjoy a "week off"....much more relaxing weekend not looking out for the away result or stressing out at Oakwell.
Looking forward to Friday night's game

Also when did all this "Friday Night" nonesense start regarding internationals? Whats so wrong with Saturday afternoons?

Also there is a rugby world cup on at the moment yet the English rugby union does not stop the Zurich premiership from competing.

not got a problem with them calling championship off for internationals, although equally wouldn't mind a '3 players rule' but agree with above why Friday night?

Rugby's an international game - everything set up for the country rather than clubs. Same with cricket - contracts between national association and clubs/individuals.

Football is, and always should be, a club game.

Yeah but if Barnsley lose I can generally rationalise it as we're playing at a level above our means. When England lose/draw/struggle to beat the minnows of European football it just annoys me. Plus there's no Match of the Day either.

My Scottish mate can't understand the club before country attitude, he's a Scotland fan first and foremost, he would watch them play football, Rugby or tiddlywinks before considering his loyalty to Ross County.

    Mind you, he's a nob.

I agree, it was beautifully written but it needed to be read in the right way to appreicate the full comic timing. Well done all round.

Agree with the relaxing weekend and not being tied to a radio, but on the other hand its another couple of half day holidays for my partner for the extra couple of Tuesday night games that compensate.

It's so that they can play Friday and Tuesday (some countries have 2 games) nad return to their clubs a day earlier in readyness for the following weekend. Felt that if they are joining up with the national squad on a Monday then playing Friday evening is little different in terms of preparation than playing on Sat.

I do just had a season ticket bought for me. I have seen Barnsley this season loose to morcombe, boro and play terrific against coventry. I cant wait we look like a very good side now. Hill is no mug.
