PhotoFiltre - Worth a look for a free easy to use photo editor for Windows. GIMP - Extraordinarily powerful free open-source photo editing suite. Will do pretty much anything but the user interface is a steep learning curve. Both have built in sepia-fication options. GIMP has lots of other old photo tricks - slight blurring, mottling and fade-to-edge give good results for a sort of one-click thing. Thanks a lot. I love that fading effect - I want to do some nice photos for my mum in law for when she moves house - she's 86 bless her.,

    Well it's dead easy.
I assume the user interface in GIMP for Windows is the same as it is in GNU/Linux.

File menu > Open and then select file
When it opens in a window of its own, select Filters menu in that window > Decor > Old Photo.
Then check all the boxes in the dialogue that opens up and OK it.
