Best Restaurants in Barnsley are............

Armstrongs on Dodworth Road which is expensive but top notch

Or Beatson House in Cawthorne which I would say is the top recommendation.

    Do you think so?

Maybe it's imprioved since I went, but it just screamed chain pub to me, with warmed up frozen meals. Dunt mean to do anyone a disservice, but I wasn't impressed. Nice enough place I suppose.

    La Bella Roma - Wakefield.

It's a proper restaurant, not a pub, and family run. Top nosh and a good wine list.

    Greenhead house in Chapeltown

It'll cost about a ton for 2 of you but it's a 5 course meal and it's top drawer.
Really friendly owners and excellent service.

Only downside is the decor and furnishings are a bit old fashioned. Unless they've done it up in the last 6 months or so as I haven't been for a while.

    Well

I know what you mean, but honestly I've never had a bad meal there, there is so much choice and it has always been good value.

Pub chain yes - food quality much higher than that, and won't break the bank.
