The Leeds match was the first time in a long time that I've bought any food/drink from the stadium, and I quickly wished that I hadn't. I got a cheeseburger and a cup of coffee. My friend bought a hotdog and a coffee also. The bread was barely edible, and was cold to boot (on both the burger and the dog) and the coffee was just about drinkable. The cheese on the burger was cold and didn't have a cat in hells chance of melting onto the meat as that too was luke warm. There wasn't much change from a tenner either... Crap.
It's about time the club stopped contracting it out and started doing it themselves. Were losing out on income that we need.
Event Management Catering (EMC) does the catering for the Exec boxes. Duno if it's they also do the food outlets, think it used to be Sodexo.
It's still Lindleys. The club are aware of the general feeling to the catering option and hopefully they will take that into account when the contract comes up for renewal. I find it amazing that the catering company don't try to improve their offering.
they best not change pies. there nice. A leeds fan i spoke to said that there nicest hes had all season and hes missed 1 game all season.
The thing that gets me is, is that it's not difficult to serve up good, tasty, filling, hot food at reasonable prices. £3.50 for a cold, bland cheeseburger just doesn't cut it I'm afraid. The club will quickly start losing (if not already) out to the vendors who park up outside Oakwell on a Saturday afternoon, and serve up good, hot food at similar or cheaper prices. I know for a fact that you can get six big, thick, tasty Bratwurst sausages from the Aldi for £1.78. Four part baked breadrolls cost 40p, yet we are charged ridiculous prices for something that is akin to dog food. The club needs to drastically rethink their costings and quality, and start winning back customers who would rather call to the burger van outside, than get fleeced inside.
Like the ones at Donny the other week. 20 minutes queueing for a cold cheeseburger that cost about 3.30 and the one tiny cheese slice was hanging out the side of the bread so wasn't covering much of the burger. For three quid odd I could have gone to a Greggs beforehand and got a warm drink, muffin, large sausage roll, bag of crisps, and still had change.
I bought a coffee at same match, and thought (maybe wrongly) that the price was lower than last season.
I think they're about £1.80 aren't they? Not sure. Still, it's overpriced for what tastes like...well, basically, hot water.
I'm not defending the overpriced rubbish that they sell, but I'm sure they will be charged extortionate rates by the club. This does not excuse the quality of food, as it can be done for a lot lot less, and a lot lot cheaper.
"The Vendors outside serve up good hot food" proper lol.....I bet your favourite restaurant is Taybarns too?
Ha. Let me rephrase: Better food that is hotter than the muck served up cold inside. It's all *****, but we don't mind that. What we want is reasonably priced, hot ***** that tastes of something. Hey, don't knock Taybarns - perfect for a Sunday evening soak up after being out on the beer the previous evening.
