Saw quite a few stood in Oxspring ready to take videos of it going over the bridge, and then a stack load waiting on the road upto Hoylandswaine to watch it over the long viaduct

Why do we suddenly have steam trains passing through barnsley

There was one a few months ago too wasn't there? Seems a bit odd that I'm being told to turn my TV off standby because it is causing pollution while a giant steam powered train is being driven through barnsley.

I saw them as I drove through Oxspring

Had them down as twitchers rather than train spotters.

  13. Good view of the train from the hill, leaving Penistone stations

And going over the viaduct. Long line of cars parked, people outside with long lenses. Wonderful to see a doublle header (Class 4 and a Class "Black" 5) pulling a long line of British Railways red coaches.
Was a circular steam special trip going from Sheffield and back there again.

  15. Funny you should stay that about pollution because....

....the diesel multiple unit that stopped at Dodworth station and then went on towards Hudds just before the steam special came through smelled and looked a lot filthier than the steamers. I think diesel engines chuck out a lot more muck than a well maintained steam locomotive.

  16. Nice video

Even better being right alongside them as they thundered through Dodworth station
