What the difference between Pro Evo 5 and Pro Evo 5 (Platinum) is for the PS2? Is the Platinum an add on or what? It's miles cheaper on play.com that's all.

    Cheers.

Its the same game. Platinum is the PS2 budget range isnt it? They have a grey stripe at the top of the case.

Is it of a poorer quality then? Surely it must be... can't be exactly the same obviously.

That's the way I understand it.

When they've sold so many copies that the development costs are covered they drop the price.

    Looking on play.com Windy...

They've the standard game at £29.99 delivered that's sold out, and the Platinum version at £11.99 delivered, which sounds great... but I don't want to end up with summat dodgy.

    Windys right

    From Wikipedia

The Platinum Range is a Sony PlayStation budget range in the PAL regions, including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. A similar budget range in the U.S. market is known as the Greatest Hits label.

Platinum Range titles are recognisable by a platinum/silver coloured band on the game's casing and manual, whereas other (non-Platinum) games would have a black band.

To become a Platinum release it was required that a game have over 600,000 total worldwide sales after generally one year on the market (PAL region sales in particular; games that sell over 600,000 units in another region alone, such as Japan or the U.S., do not necessarily qualify for a Platinum title).

After reaching the required level of sales, Sony often dropped theprices of the original title to Platinum pricing levels (generally about half of the original retail price), as a way to clear inventory for retailers.

The Platinum distinction has since been extended to the PlayStation 2 era and PSP era.
