I think its a possibilty that he has chosen to move on cos the club were not willing to push the boat out on him a new contract and also the distinct lack of ambition shown by Cryne et al, we don't seem to want to challenge for promotion and just seem to be content with just surviving relegation every year and i think that is the reason why Brian has chosen to move on, he probably isn't a premiership player but he could certainly get into a team like Wolves or Birmingham. I think the boards 'corner shop' mentality has meant that Brian has moved on, Cryne just doesn't seem to comprehend that the Premiership-Football League gulf is just too great nowadays to just run a club by balancing the books, you need to significantly invest in the club in order to challenge for promotion from this division, the amount of tv money nowadays as made Crynes methods nigh on impossible i'm affraid! 'Sound financial footing' just doesn't work nowadays thanks to the sky tv money, i don't agree with it one little bit but thats the way the game is nowadays i'm affraid.
Or frustration?? at the managers insistence on playing players out of position baffling/negative tactics and persisting with tactics that so obviously dont work ie three strikers when we go behind esp.away from home plus his inability to sort out a viable strike option over ridiculously long time
So in order to keep Howard and push for promotion the club will do what to raise the cash to do it ? Put up you season ticket by 50% ?
No Wasn't the reason the club sacked Ritchie was because he said we couldn't get into the Premiership (or something like that)? And trying to bring in Kevin Phillips doesn't sound like lack of ambition.
RE: No I think that was one of the reasons why the club got shut of Ritchie. But we have hardly made any strides forward since he went have we. I think that Phillips took one look at us and saw a club that had no ambition to challenge for promotion and an inexpereinced manager to name a few things about us. As for raising the cash to challenge for promotion then i think that Cryne should do this or look for someone who will otherwise i think that we will just stagnate in this division for years to come, there is just no getting away from the fact that to compete at the higher level we need money and lots of it. U may not agree with this but there is no other explanation that i can think of that no top player would want to come to us or that any player of ours that comes good can't wait to see the back of us.
Okay PC has made it known that he wants other investors to come in. He made it known very early in his tenure, that he wanted to save the club, not bankroll it. Do we really want to spend, spend, spend with the threat of Administration if it all goes wrong? Regarding Phillips, put yourself in his place. Barnsley who have struggled, v Birmingham who have just got relegated. Who do you think will get promoted this season? Plus you live in the Midlands, your family is settled there, kids in schools etc. As for Howard wanting to move, he has his reasons. I'm sure he wants to play in the premiership, though whether he is good enough is debateable. He seems to want more money than we can afford allegedly. All I can say is Cheers Brian, thanks for the memories.
RE: Okay so was the Phillips transfer a con by the club. trying to make us think they were in with a shout when there was more chance of a blowjob from the pope.
It's obviously that... The fans loved him; he loved the fans. Davey is an arrogant ****. And if they couldn't offer one of clubs best players what he wanted to keep him, then they ought to hang their heads. Sheffield United must be absolutely laughing their socks off! One of their closest rivals, best players on loan - wow, that's pretty fecked up!
RE: No Ritchie thought we were historically a tier 3 side and would end up back there. With a bit of help from him of course.
