Will start a war. Can't see America sitting back and just keep taking these threats aimed at them.

North Korea are just jealous that it was the South that gave the world Gangnam Style.

America are sitting back because, to be honest, they really can't afford to get involved in another war, both financially and politically, after their involvement over the last decade in the middle east. They would be stupid and irresponsible to respond to the little boy over the road shouting insults and calling them names.

But rest assured, if North Korea were ever stupid enough to actually take it further and instigate physical agression, either against South Korea, but especially if it was directly aimed at US targets, then the US would wipe them off the face of the earth.

I am not sure that even fat mummy's boy in charge there is that stupid. But you never know.

    In Europe and America,
there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mr. Krushchev said we will bury you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It would be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too

How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy
There is no monopoly in common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

There is no historical precedent To put the words in the mouth of the President
There's no such thing as a winnable war
    It's a lie we don't believe anymore
Mr. Reagan says we will protect you
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

We share the same biology Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me, and you Is if the Russians love their children too

The North Korean/ South Korea situation is very dangerous in my opinion. I think China has a massive role here, not the Americans. If China gives the thumbs down to any N Korean action then there is likely to be none. If China turn a blind eye then N Korea may think about doing something and that would escalate things with the US. So, my view is at the moment is that China will put pressure on the North to calm down..... I may be wrong of course

Agree with that totally, and I think and hope that China realise that it is not in their interests right now to get embroiled in taking sides against the west in a massively damaging war when they are looking at becoming the next economic superpower of the 21st century - it can only hold them back. They will put North Korea back in their box.

As an alternative point of view, and from someone living in the country, the situation now is no different inside Korea than it has been for the last 50 years. I've been here more than four and there's hardly anything reported here in the news.

The North have always made threats. The only difference is now that the western media is blowing the situation up and making DPRK out to be more of a threat than they actually are. This is being done to condition people to support any action that takes place. It's verging on propaganda some of the stuff that's coming out of the US and UK news outlets. The Americans have always done spring drills with the Koreans, the North has always hated it and complained. Same old rhetoric.

The North Koreans are also starving and a last year had several bad storms which has left them with no crops, and thus even less food. KJE is trying to solidify his position in a country where Confucianism rules - as a younger man, he has to prove he is worthy to lead. In addition to this, South Korea has a new female president - again Confucianism is at play as she needs to show she is strong/worthy. There is still a huge sexual inequality here. KJE isn't stupid enough to mount an attack. The reason the Chinese have put extra soldiers on their border is to stop DPRK citizens flooding into China; nothing to do with any war. China has a global reputation to protect and trade to maintain. Seriously, nothing will happen. In a month or so, it won't even be reported; the B2s will go away and America will find another issue that they feel is more important.

I disagree actually- I've heard lots about what the Americans have been doing, the sanctions side of things. but then I read the Guardian.

I don't think anything will happen as NK would be obliterated, US can't go against Russia and China: as above "rouge" nations heh

I think that China will evetually sort this one. They cannot afford to alienate western markets for manufactured goods.

Those lyrics sound more like early Edwards and Wire than Sting!

I wasn't very old, you're right! I love The Police though, so I'll Spotify it and give it a blast over the weekend.
