    I use Firefox

You'll get loads of people telling you it's much better, but I'd argue with that. It's slower, doesn't always show web pages correctly and is far less stable. I still have to use Explorer for some web sites as Firefox can't cope with them at all and shuts down. I feel loyal to it now and keep using it, but it's the same loyalty I have for my old car, imperfections and all.

There are plus points: you can set it to open multiple tabs on start-up, which is a nice touch, and there are a host of skins, so you can get it looking how you like.

Firefox 3 is out soon. I'm hoping that is a bit faster and more stable.

    RE: I use Firefox

I've never known firefox to be slower than ie, so not sure how you have managed that. Firefox 3 is supposedly much faster and uses less memory so should be better. Only problems I have with firefox is flash occasionally locking things up, but I think thats because of the firebug plugin which most people won't use. IE takes ages to even start up, and if you leave a window open in the background for more than 10 minutes it just hogs memory and takes ages to even switch to it.
    </p>

If you cannot use firefox for a website, its usually because the website has only been built for IE - its them being ****, but obviously it doesn't help you when you have to switch back.</p>

in conclusion firefox good - IE bad.</p>

Download an add-on called IE Tab. That way any websites that need Internet Explorer to open can be opened in Firefox.

    Yeah

    It's cool.

We're liking Firefox 3 lots. It will be released soon but the release candidate Firefox 3.0rc2 seems very stable and reliable.
It'll uninstall fine too if you don't like it.

As Jay says, not without its foibles but generally pretty damn good.

Also worth a look are Opera and Safari if you're looking to ditch IE.

    Firefox every time

You'll get so used to certain add-ons that you'll not be able to go back. And if you like IE7's look, you can download a theme which apes it, complete with the useful "new tab" tab.

I used to have the problem on XP of disappearing Firefox bookmarks but not anymore.

People reckon Firefox is much quicker and more stable because it isn't integrated in with Windows. Haven't noticed a difference myself.

I'm just learning javascript now and discovering just how annoying Microsoft are. There's the industry standard way of doing something... and there's Microsoft's way. You have to write if statements to check which browser the user has. Bunch of ar5e!

    Much better than IE

Only one problem I've found with it, sometimes animated GIFs can cause it to use almost %100 of your CPU (machine grinds to a halt), however, you can get get round this simply by moving the mouse round a bit.

I use it all thre time now. You can even get an EI Tab plug in for the occasional web site that is coded up to take advantage of the bugs in IE.

The one huge benefit of Firefox is that sometimes a web site will hijack your home page setting in IE, this won't happen with Firefox.

Have you tried the IE Tab Plug-in?

Works a treat for the occasional web-site that is coded up to take advantage of the fact that IE does not conform to the latest HTML standards (which Firefox conforms to more closely).

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14 which works fine for me.

Opera or Firefox are far better than IE

That's not just personal opinion either. Firefox and Opera adhere to universally recognised web standards that Microsoft ignore and so IE6 and IE7 don't display some websites properly and is a far inferior product. If it was a level playing field no one would use IE but it comes bundled with Windows so everyone does.

Firefox is superb and there are thousands of add-ons you can use.

Opera is the best browser in my view and uses significantly less memory on your PC than IE or Firefox do.
