It's not lost on the supporters that MM has been forced upon him, despite the argument for some sort of continuity. Since when did anybody worry about that when sacking a manager? It's purely financial, I think we can all see that. We can also see there is pretty much zero communication between Danny and Mickey, pitchside - and Mellon has stopped barking instructions to the players. He was Flicker's man, it doesn't seem right. If Danny's going to do a job, you have to untie both arms. Thoughts anyone?
You have to give him a 3 year deal too. I can't imagine us turning down another approach from a club for him.
I was cynical about it from day 1. Some sense in keeping him, given that he needed to hit the ground running. But that hasn't happened. 1 point from the first 9. He's looking to MM for input on players on formations, but from what i've seen, so far that amounts to no change whatsoever. That said, I can't pin today's selection on MM. Dropping Hassell and Nyatanga is very worrying. If Danny thinks a back 4 with TK and Wisey, is better than a 5 with Nyatanga and Bobby, then we're screwed. Today was woeful.
Brum will get another bucket-full New Year's Day if that back four is in attendance, never mind the midfield that started :/
We all know Kelvin is at his best in the middle and nowhere else, surely MM could have given Danny the heads up on that little basic? When I saw the team sheet I automatically thought he was in to give Bobby a rest.
I think we didn't want to pay off Melon so kept in on in the hope that another club comes in for him so we can let him leave and Danny can then bring in his own man. Sooner that happens the better because TK/Wiseman as full backs, and one up front at home with Lewin/Bobby not playing it looks like Danny is listening too much to him.
I'm still convinced that Mellon is being groomed as the manager for next year. What has he done to impress the board so much that he's kept on regardless to what Danny thinks. We need a backroom team that are going to work together if we are ever going to get out of this crap.
Isn't Mellon on a 12 month rolling contract though? I thought that meant he would always have a 12-month contract remaining, so don't we have to pay him off a full 12 months, regardless of if & when we get rid? I'll be honest though, I could be talking boll0cks. Never really understood what a rolling contract means...
Yes he does is the simple answer. We need to sweep away the remnants of the failed Hillcroft experiment.
How do we know that MM has been imposed on DW.Maybe he asked to keep MM as his number 2.All DW has said is how good MM and his respect and standing he has in the football world.I honestly believe that if Danny had wanted an other assistant MM wouldn't be here now.
I disagree. Melon is probably on near enough a six figure annual salary. If we let him go that would be around 100k less we'd have, which would mean Danny would have even less of a budget in January.
We don't have a clue what's going on between the club, DW and MM. We certainly can't tell from the communication we think we see or don't see on the touchline, for what it's worth they were definitely talking to each other all the way to the dugout after ht yesterday but again that tells us nothing really. Danny is the manager, he says he is happy with MM, regardless of this Danny makes the final call. The problems we have go far beyond who the assistant manager is but I for one trust Danny to sort them out, even if that is from league one next year. This is a non-issue of the highest order.
