I'm not stirring or owt but why are some on here so certain that he won't give the Welshman the boot? Is it all simply down to how much he'll have to pay out?
No... i just think he is of the opinion that changing the manager doesn't always work. How many managers as a fan sat in the East Stand has he seen come and go? I think he is of the mentality 'stick with em'! For me, and the majority, Davey has to go. But i honestly think even if we go down, Patrick will give Davey a good crack at getting us back up first, before giving him the chop in around Jan/Feb 2010 if we aren't top 6 of League 1. Provided we go down of course....
I'm not at all certain that he wont give him the boot - in fact I think barring some miraculous wins over the last 4 games he is likely to be given his cards at the end of the season.
personally i think that it's good to have some stability rather than sacking the manager every two minutes like we did a few seasons ago. having said that, i'm halfway round the world and not watching first hand what is being put out as a barnsley team.
Its only a good idea if the guy in charge looks capable of doing a good job. If he looks more like Bungle from Rainbow, then he has to go.
Is PC the one who would do any sacking? I thought his role in the club was more passive (albeit inevitably influencial) benefactor. Did he end up more involved than he intended? I haven't been paying enough attention!
I think its a matter of some times it looked like we were improving When we signed the new additions and on the odd occasion when we played good football. However these occasions were short lived and perhaps PC was caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, Do we get rid of him now or hope he turns the corner and things get better. Well they did, briefly Washday away and a few around that time, but then they got worse. It is now too late for a sacking and a new appointment to influence this season. My guess is if we stay up Davey will stay if we go down he will be given a chance to show he has the ability to get back to the Championship. Say 6 or 8 matches. If not he will go I am sure at this stage.
I can also see him given a crack at league one. If thats the case I will have to have a long think over renewing my sons and my season ticket for another year and Im speaking as a bloke that has missed 2 home games since we were in the prem.
