Does this ring any bells? Sound at all familiar?

I'm starting to worry slightly, about Butcher.

The following quote was taken from a Brentford forum, but was posted by an ICT supporter.

    "Caley Thistle fan here.

I had read all about it in magazines and on websites just what Terry Butcher can do to a club but I always thought he couldn't be that bad. Guys, I now completely and utterly understand just what you all went through. He was away with Scotland for three days, only to come back today and oversee a complete and utter shambles. He told the fans in the main stand to fuk off because they were voicing there displeasure at paying £15 to watch our highest ever paid manager, play one up front, at home, whilst the defence he coaches let three in at home, again, and allowed the fattest player in the league to score a hat-trick. The guy has NO idea about tactics yet holds positions of authority at the only two football teams I go to watch. Thats just not fair! When he was your manager, did he try his up most to make sure his signings got a game, even though there were better, or more consistent players available to pick? He seems to despise experienced players.

I really wish we had not given him a job."

This was in late 2009, though. Perhaps the Caley fan thinks more highly of Butch now?
I'll post a link to the 14 page Butcher thread in a bit, before I go to sleep.

Yes, it sounds very familiar, in that I've heard something like this from some brainless nit-wit, aimed at probably every manager that's ever managed a football club, anywhere.

I'd be surprised if he didn't think a lot more highly of him now that ICT are flying high in the SPL and the Scottish Cup.

Think positive, and get behind em'.

I've already said in other threads, that I'd be satisfied with his appointment. And I'll be behind him.

But forgive me for liking to do a bit of research on our potential managers. He's failed everywhere, except for ICT. And I'm of the opinion that the SPL is about as strong a league as League One, and I'm being generous.

Nobody knows how it may pan out here for Butch. But I can't say I'm as excited as I was initially, now I've read up on him and his style/tactics/recruitment etc.

Here's the 14 page thread I mentioned. It stretches back over 4 years. Some very worrying stuff in it, and a bit of squirming at the end as the Bees fans realise just how good a job Butch is doing at Caley.

I must say, I feel completely ambivalent to the whole thing.

Terry Butcher didn't even enter my mind as a possible candidate and his background is sketchy. But then every manager who has been around for a while has the same baggage. The league is littered with managers who've done well somewhere, moved on and failed to recreate the same success of their previous tenures. And also ones who've failed in a job and had some form of success later on.

Manager's you think should do well fall short, and often those with less illustrious playing careers turn out to be decent.

The sad reality is we won't know how well someone will do til they are in the hotseat and the footballing gods roll the dice.
