I have a feeling his Reds' career could be over. This Derby lad sounds a good player, and I wish him all the best, but hope his inclusion is not at the expense of Antony Kay, a tarn lad who has always given his all for the cause of the Reds. Over the season, Kay has been much better than Reid I'd have thought. Davey doesn't seem to care about the players who took us up last season, and although they may not always be the best players in the world, the likes of Hecky, Kay and Tongue always do their best and I'd have them in the squad any day of the week over some of the players we've signed. Having said all that, I have the strangest feeling that we'll stay up...
Kay should have been man enough to accept Davey's decision on Saturday instead of walking out on the team. I DID NOT agree with his team selection BUT any player that walks out needs to take a look at themselves. He walked out on the team, not just the manager.

Why He was dropped because the last couple of games he was w*nk. That's what competition for places is all about. If he works hard in training and takes his chance when it comes round again then he'll be back. Reid didn't walk back into the side when Kay and Atkinson were playing together so why shoud Kay. It'll be alright, don't worry.
I saidafter the Cardiff game that he did not look at all happy, did not try to recover his error for the first goal and would leave at the end of the season. Probably along with a few of the other better players too, unfortunately.
Contract negotiations to start in the Autumn? Any completed yet?

He has been in this side most of the season and had every opportunity to establish himself as a Championship player. Sadly he isn't up to the task. He has made plenty of mistakes in 1 v 1 situations which have led to goals.
When the going has got tough he chucks his dummy out of the pram and does a runner. He has a suspect temperament which keeps bubbling to the surface. That showed last Saturday.
The questions should really be is Kay a Championship defender? Being a local lad is irrelevant, so am I but I was never good enough to play for the club. If Kay does leave Oakwell he may well get a shock to find its to League 1 or 2.
Take off the anti Davey/Shepard glasses and then look at Kays performances this season. How highly does he rate compared to other Championship defenders?
(casualty)

stay up?, with this squad??,fecking impossible, bottom of table by saturday teatime and we will stay there till its over, our current 1st team will struggle in div 1
Nice hatchet job. Wrong in every respect like.
Your personal dislike of Kay has clouded your judgement imho. Alongside Hassell he has shown to be well capable of playing at Championship level. The pity is recently because of Davey's messing, the midfield protection afforded by Togwell has disappeared so whoever plays in our back 4 is going to have a torrid 90 minutes.

Thats a good point but is Read a Championship defender? I doubt that as well. Read tends to clear his lines when under pressure, Kay tries to play football to get himself out of trouble but he does it in the wrong areas. That has led to goals. The manager will know exactly which defender is making the most errors when he get the match analysis. Kay has been making basic defending errors, eg. Cardiff, Wednesday ect. He is left out because of that and the rest is history.
RE: Nice hatchet job. My personal dislike of Kay?
I don't like or dislike the lad. I said in a post the last Week that I had high hopes for the him. He seemed to have got hold of his temperament and focused on playing the game, rather than getting involved in petty squabbles with the opposition. He had started to look a useful player.
I base my comments on what I have seen on match days and on the training pitch. He has worked very hard when I have seen him train. I certainly couldn't fault his application, but the only place it matters is at 3 pm on Saturday.
I don't hero worship footballers or managers for that matter. I woudln't walk 5 yards across a pub to talk to a player. I'd rather talk to Spartacus, Buck Satan and Young Nudger, their all a darn site more intelligent than the average footballer. Footballers are not that important to me other than what they do on Saturday afternoon.
That means my views tend to be objective rather than based on raw emotion.
(casualty)

Kinell fire. It's taken you 55 years to form the opinion of a Joey. Well done. It must be a record. You change your mind more than Hartog changes his chocco-raspberry sheets. And that's pretty often. Revvie P is the smartest person on here. He's got a terrible opinion of you though.
RE: What a load of absolute **** Seriously Jay. Your signature is exactly what Andy Ritchie told a member of the coaching staff when he was at Oldham.
A classic.

(casualty)

RE: "A spoilt brat who should never play for the club again. " I would say the same about any player who walked out of the Club.
I am sure if Kay had a chat with Davey things could be sorted out. Even Davey has to accept that things can be said and done under pressure which we don't intend.
Its a test of both Kay and Davey to see if this issue can be resolved but it is unacceptable for any player to behave has Kay did.
A player seems to improve no end if he has a spat with Davey!

(casualty)
