BARNSLEY manager Andy Ritchie gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's clash with Brentford. He said: "I spoke to Tony Vaughan at the start of the season about him not starting games so we wanted to get him out and get him playing. We have had some enquiries over the last few days but he felt that he wanted to go to Stockport for family reasons. "Chris Turner has said that he will look towards a permanent deal in the New Year so we will have to assess that when it comes around. Tony did not want to be captain when he was not playing although we can still use his experience. At the moment he is going out to get some games but there is the offer of a permanent deal if he does well although nothing has been agreed. He may be available at the end of the loan. "There is nothing certain to happen before the deadline. Marc Richards is still with us and there could be something there but because he is unattached that does not have to be done before the deadline. There is no rush but I was not really expecting Martin Devaney to become available. "I will not be signing people just for the hell of it. Martin is a quality player who we tried to get in the summer. That was too good an opportunity to pass up and he may make his debut tomorrow. Martin can play left or right as well as up front so we have even more cover".
I'm looking fwd to seeing Delaney! Ritchie's dropping big hints there. Can he cross a ball, I wonder?
RE: I picked this up when he signed I'd guess that he dropped Robbie back to left back on Tuesday so that Devaney can go left wing on Saturday...
