Well its all over in championship today I feel. Just like to thank Hill and Flitcroft for starting us on the slippery slope to the alehouse league...tw@ts. Goodnight Vienna.
Worth remembering if it weren't for Flitcroft, we would have been in League 1 a year earlier Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We have never pulled up any trees since Andy Ritchie took us out of the Ale House League. Have not been impressed with any of his successors. We had the odd stars, Ferenczi, Anderson, Howard, Butterfield, Vaz Te and one or two loanees such as Drinkwater and Hammill, but generally we haven't built on the young side that came up.
To be honest I don't think the local lads who got us into this division weren't up to this league, hence why none of them have really played in this league since. Had Simon Davey not relied too heavily on foreign players and had we given Robins the budget he wanted we might have been more competitive by now. Then again, maybe not. So many others to add to that who we didn't build around or secure on proper contracts that either kept the player with us or paid proper financial dividends. Our transfer dealings have been shocking and we have let so many clubs and players take advantage of us. It has been outrageously unprofessional and blood boiling at times.
I hadn't realised until recently (or if I had I'd forgotten) that the reformed "AFC" Rushden & Diamonds are now ground-sharing at the Dog & Duck with the reformed Wellingborough Town. Must make an effort to at least get along to the derby matches next season.
