Listened to it in the car on way to lads footy match, so didnt really get chance to hear it all but one thing I could not quite believe was how he was almost talking down any potential price we might get for Butterfield, I believe he said something like "he is coming back from a serious injury which will have to be taken into account when the tribunal sets the price" Staggering !! surely he should be talking up how good he was playing before being targeted and taken out by a certain **** in white and not saying he might not be the player he was etc etc thereby almost influencing the tribunal and anyone else interested in buying him I honestly think the board have a complex that if someone comes in for one of our players we have to go for their first offer as we might not get another, I am fine with a player wishing to leave but please for goodness sake for once can we try and get a decent price and not just accept anything
If it is a tribunal we should be talking him up like never before. Sadly the talk everything down mantra can't be shaken.
I agree thats what I mean I couldnt quite believe what I was hearing, he sounded like he was almost resigned to getting sod all for him
He didn't say it quite like that though. He said the other club would use his injury to try and reduce the price paid but they (BFC) had put together a defence to this point and would argue to the contrary. What he said was fact, any club trying to get Jacob will use his injury to try and reduce his value.
Keep making sure the bar is set as low as possible. We ought to translate that to Latin and change the club motto.
Mario, its no good putting what actually was said as redstar and stevevfc just want to have ago at the club.
I do you are right. I remember days when we got big money for our best players. But then we had a Chairman doing the job not a paper pusher doing his best.
So because I have an opinion thats different to yours means am wrong does it ?, I said I didnt hear it all if you had read what I put
Why can't people realise that Rowing is out of his depth with transfers and contracts. He's no idea and it is a case of 1st offer and we take it.
In all fairness with this one its completely out of Rowings hands - we offered Butterfield a contact ( too late unfortunately ) and I am sure we would have cashed in in Jan had the leeds thugs not intevened. Of course any club signing him in the summer is going to use the injured as a reason for getting him cheap I dont see the relevance myself -we have brought on a player through the ranks and got him to a level where big clubs are clamouring (apparantly) if they think he isnt the player he was due to his injury they shouldnt be signing him at all
You could argue he's been very clever in mentioning the interest of Newcastle at a very early stage. A club vying for champions leage football. Any other prem club interested have to act quickly and put an offer in to avoid a procession to Newcastle and maybe up Newcastles bid. But lets just say he's a joke instead for saying what everyone knows, that Butterfield is injured.
If there is a doubt regarding the return to full ability and fitness of Butterfield. Why not get the best possible fee up front, and also add a clause of extra money when he has completed x number of games for his new club
