I'm confused (again). How can the contract be with the lawyers now if Don Rowing hasn't even decided whether to offer a rolling 12 month contract or a fixed term contract?

So he's still got a contract with us come 1st June, albeit as assistant manager, so he's not free to talk any other clubs and we would get a fee if he didnt want to carry on with the reds.

Put me at ease a little bit anyway.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes or things I heard/typed wrong but roughly...

Yeah I mean David's been offered the position and we're hoping that he'll take that. I mean he knows what he wants. There are one or two little minor adjustments he wanted to make going forward but I think he has already said that he wants to keep the bulk of the team together so someone that is not interested in the job wouldn't do that. So I'm sure that David will be our manager next year.

Is it a formality? Is it just a case of dotting the I's and crossing the T's then?

I think so yes. I mean It takes time to get these contracts together. There are other issues that we have to address so it's on the back burner at the moment but he has spoken with us and you know, hopefully going forward it will not be too long before he puts pen to paper.

Are you looking like a fortnight? Is that kind of the right time frame would you say?

Well I would think that's a realistic time. I mean what we did originally in order to give it a bit of time after the end of the season as the team manager and then he would revert back to his contract as assistant manager so obviously we've got 2 or 3 weeks in order to put that right.

Is this a case of Barnsley making sure you have to do whatever it takes to keep the momentum going here? To keep the team together, the manager, to keep everything in place because you had such a fantastic end to the season Don, there is a real feel good factor about the place. This looks like you're trying to keep it on.

Yeah course we are. I think we've shown that with what we're prepared to offer David. And as I say, the balls in his court really. I'd be very disappointed if he didn't take the job.

Just what kind of an offer have you made to him then? I know you're not going to go into specifics but..

Well I can't go into specifics in terms of money but it is a good offer which we've made monetary wise. As far as the length of contract, we've not really decided whether we do it on a rolling contract or a fixed period. They're things which we need to talk over but certainly he will be at the helm as far as we're concerned at the start of next season.

If I was Cryne and I was going to have a mouth piece then **** me it would NOT be Rowing. The most depressing uninspiring spokesman that I could wish upon anyone.

Nothing like killing the buzz around the place as usual. If Cryne can't sell the club then for fcuks sake half Don's salary - make him club secretary/football administrator and put the rest towards paying for a bright, enthusiastic commercial/marketing manager.

Am I wrong in thinking that Rowing said in another interview a couple of weeks back that there would be an announcement straight after the Huddersfield game as the club knew what they wanted? Or words to that effect.

Re: you spotted that one too...

No growth, dwindling attendances, alienated fan base, poor links with the community, non-existent marketing strategy, season after season of balls ups on the pricing strategy, mis-information fed to the fans - I could go on.

Operating a company with **** all expenditure is not a skill and if they perpetuate this approach then eventually we are going to run out of luck and end up back in the doldrums.

I cannot for the life of me believe that the club did not have 2 strategy's in place for immediately after the Huddersfield match - one for League 1 and the other for the Championship.

Cryne and Rowing between them beggar belief at times these days.

Calamity Don at his finest if he screws this up. Why not offer the job months ago no matter what league we'd be in?
