How many do you reckon they will bring. cant see them bringing anymore than Wednesday to be honest. As of 30th October they had sold 350 hahaha
Their last four followings to Oakwell 2,325 1,854 2,579 3,147 They still swear they brought 6,000 in League 1 one season, even knowing the away end only holds 6,000, the end section that holds 1,000 plus was empty (on youtube) and the front few rows weren't used.
Not when you compare it to the size of the town, its okay teams like Leeds giving it the tail stroking treatment about their away support when they're a 1 city club.
Morning all, sadly can't see many more than 1500 (strange as we took 1400+ to Wigan on a Tuesday in August), The Keepmoat website hasn't been updated for ages so the 358 figure will be a fair bit higher. Always look forward to a day out & a few beers in Barnsley & this season is no different, hard to predict a result though as we both seem to have the capability of total collapse!. Any decent pubs you can recommend in the centre for before & after, went in Groggers rest a few years back that was OK but fancy a walk further into town/tarn whatever you lot call it!!
Our away following is **** - And trying to make excuses just makes us look daft. Luton Took 356 to Gateshead in last few week - We couldn't even take that to Leicester I cant stand people making excuses for our poor support
If you were happy with Groggers your easily pleased Go to Brammas or Silkstone for a few pre match drinks. Avoid old number 7 (Stinks of Piss)
The Wigan following weren't bad but 1,292 to Huddersfield and 1,820 to the sty are poor followings. We aren't much better but can you blame us, we average about 3 away wins a season over the last 7/8 years. I'd rather take the missus out.
We took 468 to Leicester. Our poor support? pretty decent for a town and club the size of ours. And Luton? take a look at this table, they were top of the league, we were mid table http://stats.football365.co.uk/2005/ENG/D2/attend.html
Cost an'all - pretty much a full day, empty wallet and nowt to show. Mind, that could be either going to a match or trekking out with our gurt.
Gordon, I think just about every team is suffering a decline in away support, it costs a small fortune nowadays just to travel to reasonably local games, thought your following at Ipswich was superb given the circumstances. Our followings to local games are poor imo but we seem to travel to long distance games in decent numbers, the season we went down we took a fraction under 500 to Southampton in March then a couple of weeks later slightly less to Leicester (both on saturdays). Both our away supports are similar but I reckon you travel in bigger numbers to local games.
Agreed, but its only £20 to Oakwell - probably one of the cheapest away games in the division, fill yer boots. Ipswich was full of mentalists.
