Re: heres a link too Dickov is a much better choice than Appleton or Saunders would have been. Good young manager used to working within a tight budget, who did well with Oldham. I wonder if Gerry will join him again?
As Oldham manager, he led them to 16th, 17th and - before he departed - 20th in League One. But they did beat Liverpool in a cup tie. His stats below... Played - 141 Won - 43 Drawn - 37 Lost - 61 Win % - 30.50 In my opinion, he's done very very well to get a Championship job, albeit at a League Two/Conference level club..
Dickov is a shocking appointment. To be fair to Donny, not a lot of names who were good enough had been linked. Michael Appleton would have been a better appointment then Dickov because he does have experience in the Championship, no matter how poor he was and wasn't given much of a transfer window with Blackburn. Reckon Dean Saunders would have been better then Dickov as well. He's probably the worst appointment they could have made.
I'm not so sure he will be a success in the championship; I think I'll reserve judgement until after the new year but I will say he probably wouldn't have been my choice.
