Especially as John Sheridan i'm pretty certain will keep Oldham up as the longest serving third tier team as he's a damn good manager.
They've had a right chip on their shoulder about us ever since John Ryan took them over, **** 'em hope they end up back in the conference , sithi.
Going back to our bad run, they were all loving it, claiming they'd never play us again blah blah blah. Loving going through all the fb posts from the time and just putting a smiley face. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agree with that , but it's a shame to lose a local away day, and the banter's no fun when it's one sided....god I'm too soft!!
Not much of a derby, they only bring 1400. When we tell them we don't have a rivalry with them, they tell us we have think we have a rivalry with the Sheffield clubs but its only one way. They then claim to have Rotherham has their main rivals but we had the bigger rivalry with them in the 80's and they hate Wednesday more, so they say it's Scunny but Scunny don't care they hate Grimsby. Moral of the story is - they're irrelevant.
I just had a look on their site when we were going through our horrendous run. To be fair, apart from the odd throbber (weve got them them too) they were quite sympathetic and wished us well, i noticed whitey posted a few times and he was well recieved also. Rivalry is good, it adds spice to fixtures and increases banter, apart from Wednesday and United (dislike for different reasons) I dont wish our local rivals any harm (unless they play us). Donny and Rotherham are just like us, proper clubs, who dont live on past memories and achievements and I hope they both stay up.
I may be different but I don't mind any team in Yorkshire when we are not in the same division. When we are I tend to least like them. Exception for leeds though as I just detest them full stop. For example. Owls. I don't mind seeing them do well at the minute. Come the time we are in the same division. Totally different feeling towards them. As such I hope Rotherham stay up. At the moment I hope donny go down and sheff utd implode further.
Just for fun, here's the Championship Teams in 96-97 and now. Also the Championship teams today, and where they were in 96-97. TL/DR: Many teams in the Championship from the season when we were promoted are now in lower divisions. The Championship today has many teams who were in lower divisions back in 96-97. There are 5 teams in the Championship today, who were in the Premier back in 96-97. Edit: Back in 96-97 Doncaster were in Division 2 (Old Div 3).
I'd agree with most of that nez, it's always good to see any Yorkshire team doing well, Yorkshire has been too long in the wilderness at the top level. Be proud of Yorkshire. I bet I get some moron mentioning me being in Dubai now as usual, there's always one...or more on here
