Barnsley
Woolley
Conisborough
Hillsborough
TOWN MOOR
Dore & Totley
Beauchief
Weatley
Tankersley
Sandhills
Hickleton
Robin Hood
Bawtry
Styrrup
Thornhurst
To name but a few

What - youve played all those courses and still rate Town Moor one of the best??? I dont play golf in Donny that often, but would put Thornhurst, Owston and the one at Bessacar way above Town Moor. As for South Yorkshire, there are loads better. In fact, im hard pushed to name more than a couple of "proper" courses any worse. Maybe its just me!
No it isn't just you! Personally I would put almost all the ones he mentioned above Town Moor and also some he didn't mention.
Town Moor is a quality golf course there's no doubt. The only problem with it is the walk from the club house to the first tee and back, it's a killer. The greens are fast and true and you have to think your way round it. Unlike some courses where you have flags in a field and a few trees.
I also played Silkstone with Barry Murphy the other week but didn't rate it because of all the work that's going on there to develop the course.
And I never said that the other courses I mentioned were better than Town Moor, I said that Town Moor was ONE OF THE BEST I have played.

And I didn't say that Town Moor wasn't a good course, just that I would rate most of the others you mentioned above it.
all i was trying to say is that Town Moor is by no means one of the best courses around here - in my opinion of course. In Donny, Thornhurst is a more challenging and better value course. Woolley beats it by a country mile (when they havent messed the bloody greens up!!), Wath is one of the best in this area for me. Its all about opinions i suppose.
