Match report from a Donny perspective. Personally I though you lot looked the far better side for the first half and a draw would been a fair result, not complaining though, obviously. And to preempt your forum wags: my caravan is fine, I do like dags and I've run out of lucky heather http://doncasterroverssupportersgroup.org/doncaster-rovers-vs-barnsley-match-report/
How flat were the Barnsley support? Silent throughout? Seriously . . . ? I must have been at a different game.
Was thinking the same, I didn't go, but listened to radio Dee darr and you could only hear Barnsley fans.
"They didn’t have much to shout about but how flat were the Barnsley support? To bring a crowd like that and be pretty much silent throughout seems odd. Barnsley were poor though and the quality of the goal reflected Rovers eventual superiority." **** me what's this lad on? Silent? Three sides of the ground were silent, the north stand was not. The quality of the goal reflected rovers superiority? Two points. One - if you think you were in any way superior yesterday and you were satisfied with your side then you've got a very very long season to follow. Two - the goal wasn't 'quality' - he wandered through non existent defending and hit a shot to the near post, not in the corner and close to the keeper, at decent pace but should have been saved. It wasn't. Not chaplow's fault but it wasn't 'quality'. We weren't good yesterday but we were markedly better on the ball than your side, you won yesterday but I wouldn't bet too much that you'll be anywhere near us in the table come may. Good luck though, I live in Donny, other than at oakwell I've no reason to wish you not to go well.
Pretty much that ^^ Some decent thoughts but to even hint that Rovers were at any point superior is nonsense. Ultimate smash and grab yesterday, putting 10 men behind the ball at home won't work every week.
Even the radio Sheffield commentator said Barnsley fans making all noise, mainly because that's all you could hear in background to commentary and that's including Donny co commentator. Think your reporter is a tad bias IMO which is ok if you don't like the truth. Good win for you though tbf
I was in the South Stand (opposite you lot) & although your lot in the corner seemed to be giving it plenty I only heard decent noise a couple of times, the stadium is awful for carrying noise. You were much better than us pretty much for 80 minutes & really should have been of sight, your midfield looked particularly comfortable on the ball. Whilst I'm praising you may I congratulate you on the politeness of your yoof. I was heading to the ground before the game my me & the wife ended up in the middle of the in the alleyways near the stadium & they stopped to let us through. Fair play! Bit of a bizarre sight as they seemed to be aged 16-20 ish but led by a bloke in his late 50's in his stone island cap who stood at the front & told them where to go & when to make noise or be quiet. At one stage he told them all to stand still & wait & they just slammed on the brakes in military fashion, it was all a bit weird . He was like the Josef Fritzel of the chav world.
