He's been keeping a low profile like all good politicians do when the flak's flying.

Davey and the players are coming under more scrutiny and criticism but we still have a very poor squad for this league due to a lack of spending.

Many are on about tactics and formations but the bottom line is that we've bought buggar all quality this season and the lack of ambition is plain to see from the boardroom down to the tactics on the field.

We have been second best by a long way at all our recent home games since Hull and the standard of football on display is truly appalling.

Shepherd tried to appease fans with a flurry of signings before the deadline but only Ferenzci has improved the team significantly.

Rajczi isn't up to the task and has a worse strike rate than Hayes, Richards, Nardiello AND Tommy Wright and Coulson this season.

We're now in the ridiculous situation where our reserve team is full of other clubs youngsters who we've brought in but aren't good enough for the first team. This is holding back our academy lads opportunities. What a shocking indictment of Simon Davey's previous tenure.

The academy must be closed down anyway, it is a total waste of money, the best kids go to the big clubs anyway and we will only attract local kids that ManU, Sheff Utd, Weds and Leeds don't want. The money saved would buy one QUALITY player a season, mind you would Shep spend it?

The last 2 home games and the next one will net over £300,000 in away fans revenue, if we go down, we won't make that all next season.

I didn't expect Shepherd to break the bank but I did expect 3 or 4 proven championship players either permanent or on loan to at least give the club a real chance of staying up instead of a wing and a prayer.

Don't forget where the real blame lies.

    excellent post

Agree with every word apart from closing the academy. I'm not sure exactly how much money we'd save and whether it would really be worth it.
We have produced good players at the academy - kay, tonge and austin have all come through the academy and are all better players than what we have signed and play instead of them. Now to me that doesn't say that our academy isnt producing, it says that we are failing somewhere else at the club and wasting money on players worse than what we already have.

its oreyt calling our board tight but theyve expressed the desire to spend from 1st kick of this season and also they spent the best part of a million pounds of investment in january alone.

    yeah right

I've posted a list of players that barnsley fc's own website has said andy ritchie tried to sign in the summer and we didnt get one of those players so something obviously wasnt right and I believe that ultimatly it is upto the board of directors to sign players that the manager wants.

Again, according to barnsley fc's official website it was the board not the manager who made the decision to withdraw the contract offer to our promotion winning winger.

Flinders sold, mcindoe sold. Take away this large profit from what was spent in january and the ambitious figure shrinks considerably

who have we spent a million on?

    McCann-£110k
    Mattis-£45k
    Ferenzci-£250k
plus some nondescript loanees, how does that add up to nearly a million?
sold Flinders £300k up front ?
    sold McIndoe £250k
    in £550k ish
players that the manager wanted to spend some money on in the summer, went to other clubs, some in lower leagues, because they were offered better packages.
Its too easy just to continually blame Ritchie for not signing anyone and saying that he had been offered players, well I for one can understand his refusal to sign them if they are the same ones we have signed since his sacking, only one has improved the team and the others have just added to the wage bill.

think that may be owed by Oakwell Community assets Ltd who are the Council and PC. It's the company that bought the land.

Rajczi is a Centre forward. Do you take notice where he's been playing for us mostly??? Strike rate my arse, Daveys fault for messing him about, he's in a different position every 10 minutes when he plays. He's suppose to be a goal scorer, who'll get on the end of things. I feel sorry for him, a new club and country and he's had to fit into Daveys game plan, not his own! Hows he suppose to settle?

He should be started upfront standing on the last man if he's picked, not wasted on the wing. THA **** DAVEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep the debt is £164.000 half put up by the council and half by P Cryne . A Loan to Barnsley Football Club Holdings by the newly formed OCA which is the Council and P Cryne.

I agree that Pete hasn't had the service he would have liked but I'm not sure its entirely the managers fault.......maybe we just aint got the players to play neat and tidy balls into feet or players who can open up defences and play forwards in - not against the top sides anyway. I don't think Rajczi should be criticised though, the effort is there and he has shown he does have the ability.....just not falling for him at the moment. Saying that, no one is safe from the boo boys.....remember Chops?

    RE: Rajczi

1 goal in 9 starts isn't a good return but it's not just in front of goal I think he's lacking.

He's not very quick, he doesn't look like he can create things when he drops off, it's all very basic, control, easy pass & thats it and when he has had the odd chance he's fluffed it.

Okay the service isn't good and our tactics are very defensive even at home but he doesn't compare to Ferenzci and is no better on 9 starts evidence than players already at the club.

I hope you're right and he does a Chopra, comes alive after a slow start and keeps us up but I don't think he has the talent.
