Think that the Julian Gray signing could be a good one but he's only started 166 league games in 13 years of playing. Also hasn't really played at all for a couple of years. Is he injury prone?
I'd imagine so yes. Only signed a monthly contract though so could prove his fitness then look to earn a long term one. Could re-vamp his career by joining us.
Thats whats worrying me too... I still think its a very good signing, you just have to wonder why no other club has picked him up before us...
Think you need better glasses -it's 166 but anyway you get my point! Apparently Sheff U and Cardiff had him on trial this summer.
Think thats a bit unfair as your counting his 4 years as a youth at Arsenal and the year he spent at fulham as back up.
Difference in numbers is easy Mine are starts whereas yours include sub appearances. I reckon half the time players are subs it's because they are really injured!
Hands up You are right but massaging the stats to prove a point is fair game surely. Still reckon he might not play very much so not getting too excited about his signing.
166 league starts 225 league appearances. A total of 263 appearances in all competitions. And actually it isn't in 13 years as he didn't make his debut until the last day of the season in 2000. 262 in 9 seasons is an average of 29 games a season which is a little low but take out last season where he hardly got a game due to being out of favour and its more like 32 games a season
RE: Hands up Ha. So on my reckoning he's been involved in 263 games in 8 years - so he'll start every game for us.
that makes no sense bright red 'half the time players are subs it's because they are really injured!' Presumably that means that three or four of our subs last night were injured?
I think he'll feature quite heavily. If he can recapture his form from a few years back, he should prove to be a very astute signing.
Flatters to deceive... ... worth a punt on a monthly contract, otherwise no. Also said bit light weight.
When I've seen him he's always looked decent for what it's worth.

He is the sort of player we are needing. Left footed, can play LB, pace, height, loads of experience at this level, only 29. He is a player I have wanted us to sign in quite a few windows I remember. Good work MR. If we can get him playing to his potential then we have a useful player. I don't think his record suggests him being injury prone, most of the gaps where he didn't play are in the PL, so maybe not quite good enough for that level but good at our level.
I refer the Right Honourable Gentleman to the answer I gave earlier I was actually speaking about the trialist Suad Filekovic, but the point is the same irrespective of who the player is. http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=151709&mid=1024283#M1024283 As I said, just my opinion. Now where did I put that soap box?????
