Fair play to him today - as I've been critical of him recently, but he did well. At the end, Steele was urging the fans to applaud McNulty - thought it was a nice touch by Steele. Just loved the way the team seemed to be together. It's going to be hard, but maybe we could survive yet.
My man of the match today. He played well last week too, but this week he was back to his form of last season.
He was much better today as he was allowed to clear his lines upto Harewood instead of tippy tapping it around.
Must admit he played balls out of defence rather than sideways the Hill way, but our defence weren`t under much pressure today. Far better from him today but it were an easy defensive game due to attacking high up the pitch.
I don't rate McNulty at this level at all. However, he did fine today, no where near MOM but looks better in a 3 now that flicker has realised he isn't a ball playing defender and gives him licence toi get it forward and clear his lines. What I do like about McNulty is that he is clearly passionate about the fans and playing for the club. Still don't rate him highly but well done to him today.
He had a decent game. Got a few crucial touches on the ball when defending. As said above, he (and all the cb's) were obviously instructed, and being encouraged by Mellon, to gerrit forrad and it worked. I thought Jim played well for us last season but he has been woeful so far this season, until today. He played well, hope he keeps it up because he certainly seems to have a bit of passion for the club.
Got to admit, he played well today. But we defended from the front, Dagnall chasing everything, Harewood holding the ball, and Dawson and Perkins were outstanding. All of which gave the defence more time. Over al an outstanding effort.
Someone has obviously got hold of him "nar then, Jim lad. Forget what that Keith Hill kept tellin thi to do. He's gone nar and you were rubbish when you listed to him. Nar then, when you see the ball in the air, jump and head it forward. When you see the ball on the floor, pass it FORWARD, to someone else in red. Then run back to where you were."
The lad won every single header and he didn't give becchio a sniff all game, credit where credit is due!
One of his best performance for us. Only mistake he made was giving Ross Barkley enough space to hit the bar, but apart from that a solid game.
I admit after Watford I said I didn't want to see him in the red shirt ever again but he was incredible today, the other centre backs were quality too but McNulty led by example. Much improved.
he still played some of his stupid long balls in to no mans land, but i don't think anyone noticed that as we were all going a bit mental at 2-0 up... he played well, but don't let it cover up the fact we need some help at the back
i don't really have a problem with the odd 40-yard long ball to no one. at least it ends up in their half, and out of trouble. i thought he had a great game, and i've absolutely slated him in recent weeks. just shows what difference a bit of sensible coaching can do.
