I've been thinking (it's always a bad sign !!!) about something I read on here the other day about someone wanting to name one of the stands after Pat Cryne
Yes, its a good idea

We all know how good a job Pat Cryne has done in saving the club and moving it forward
BUT
Pat Cryne hasn't built owt at the WELL...................John Dennis has

All the new stands and the training facilities are down to John Dennis and his board of directors

I dont know if anyone else pointed this out during the debate the other day, but I thought I'd throw it into the ring and see what others thought

Dennis put the club into admin by building all that lot!
PC got us out of it.
He still doesn't deserve to have a stand named after him till he sacks Davey though.

I think we went into Admin because he was trying to get us back into the Premeirship and spending daft money trying to do it
The stadium was built mostly on money that we got from transfers

Ahhh right...

... you mean built as in one brick on top of another, not built as in galvanising the club, giving it direction and leadership, getting it out of the ***** and dumping a few million of his own hard earned in as well.

Apologies.

I didn't mean anything I was just saying what I thought Nudger meant which was that the stands were built under Dennis's tenure and should be named after him rather than Cryne. However, you took it to mean that Nudger was saying Cryne had never done anything decent for the club and saw it as an attack on him. Old habits, eh?

Maybe not the stands but we lived well beyond our means building the academy.
And hasn't it produced a bucket load of players.
The best youth policy we had was when Winnie was youth manager playing on the old Coop ground, no fancy facilities then but it didn't stop us producing the likes of Eaden, Liddell, Moses, Jones etc. Also players whose careers were cruelly cut short like Watson, Jackson and Burton.

This is what you said verbatim:-

".. is that apart from talking the club out of administration for the once and only time in its history.

No your right, PC has done nowt really."

One can only assume from that you think (or are attempting to infer) that Nudger was having a go at Cryne when he blatantly wasn't.

You can...

...assume away Jimbo. Makes little difference to me.

I see you've hit it off nicely with the Hartog.

What's your secret?

If I remember correctly

premier league season income was £9.5m, wages were £2.6m. 1998/99 income was £7m wages were £6m. I also think we made a profit in 2000 purely on the transfer of Hignett. The writing was on the wall when we were paying silly money to the likes of Tinkler et al.

Looks like it

I never had a problem with Dirk but for some reason he became more hypocritcal than a born again christian and in his zealotry decided to take issue with some of my posts. That's fine by me. I'll continue to believe that we can find a better manager than Simon Davey and can aim higher than 20th position every season.
