Had a conversation with a good mate of mine yesterday who in the past has passed on a few morsels or two of news Apparently Duff had a change of mind about staying after a long conversation with Khaled and the board about re the direction this season should take Apparently he was told we were going to consolidate in this division by bringing the youngsters through this season and was therefore expected to give them more minutes ...those in power also thought it a better option to have our youngsters gaining experience at oakwell rather than away.from oakwell. He was also told that this season the experience he wanted to bring in wouldnt happen and only raw talent if any would be walking through the oakwell door... Plus at least 3 players if not 4 from the 1st team squad were going if their valuation was met, thats..on top of the loan players returning to their parent club... Yes he was offered more money but that offer, came with conditions, conditions would have seen him being told who to and not select... Hence his... its not about the money statement...followed by the I'm ambitious.... something he claimed the board weren't hence the veiled dig at the club in his statement of why he jumped ship.... When asked about the managerial position he said the board is split between giving Disco and Eden the gig or fetching in one of khaleds school teacher friends ....Apparently money is tighter than they are letting on hence the boards reluctance to spend ...plus he said there's a whisper that the club have had inquiries about selling up which would give further credence to why Duff wasn't getting money to spend .and why the clubs been quiet on more than one front.... we may see something coming out over the next couple of weeks ie Khaleds big reveal statement. My opinion... theres something in the air and I don't think its bull sh 1t Just don't shoot the messengers
Not shooting the messenger but why would the board risk all of there work getting the fans on side and pushing for promotion to tearing up the blueprint which as got us so far.No offence mr messenger but none of it makes any sense.
We need some good news soon, or we’re back where we were at the start of last season. I’m sick of hearing about people leaving.
People will always believe what they want to believe & some will jump on what you have said as if it is fact, personally I choose not to believe it as Duff has said publicly that he new of interest in his services before the play offs which indicates he already had his head turned , it is also silly rumour season when a manager moves on & the critics usually declare open season on the club & have a go at them at every opportunity , eventually everything comes out in the wash but what you have said will have the doom merchants & the armchair critics rubbing their hands with glee .
What's Alec Baldwin got to do with this? I may just bookmark this post to see how many premonitions come true in the next couple of months.
Ah, the old “the board pick the players rumour” I’m sure the move to a higher league and the massive wage increase had nothing to do with it.
Wouldn’t surprise me if most of this is true. And if it is then deary me we’ll end up in league 2 soon enough with Donny
True enough what you say but the OP sounds logical enough and one can see the scenario clear enough. Might be ****** might be correct but there may be elements of truth in it...Fuller picture over time.
Whether you believe this or not makes no diffrence.. You'll be able to watch with your own eye's whats going on over the next few weeks.
Because we're in financial trouble? I keep reading on here from certain posters that financially we're a well run club. No we're not. The accounts paint a completely different picture and if it wasn't for the board putting capital in last season (circa £6m) to keep us going then we could have been looking at administration. Maybe they want to get out now because they can't keep funding the clubs losses. I would suspect that the club has to reduce costs significantly this summer so it would come as no surprise if Duff felt the goalposts had been moved on next season's plans and that he couldn't deliver another successful season i.e play off campaign.
