His estimating skills are miles off http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7717999.stm Reckons he was 70 yards from the penalty incident with the linesman being 75/80 yards away. As Simon was stood on the half way line and the penalty incident took place on the edge of the area, I think that makes our pitch 220yds long!
Think you need to do your sums again Jay. Simon is 70 yds away on half way line. Add on penalty area 18 yds that makes a half 88yds, so max the pitch can be is 176 yds. Having said that, he still needs to get better judgement as the max dimension is 130 yds for the length. Unless Simon was standing further back than half way. If the incident was infront of the kop then he would have been behind half way, as the home dug-out is at the ponty end of half way this could be the case. Depending where the last defender is, that should be where the linesman is.
If he reckons he's 70 yards away from the edge of the area Then the penalty area is 40 yards if it's an inch.
was he on the half way line? cos if he was leaning on the dug-out (like all his knockers claim he does) then he is well behind the half way line and he could well be 70 yds from the edge of the penalty area. Presumably Kozzie was inside the area, no doubts about that.
RE: 70 yards from the edge of the penalty area to the dug out? you're not listening to what i'm saying. where was he standing? if he's leaning on the dug out then he will be ponty side of half way line. if not then he may have been he on the half way line but i don't know 'cos i'm in australia. i did say he still needs to get better judgement if he was 'cos it's obviously not 70 yds to edge of area. BUT it still doesn't make the pitch 220 yds either.
