Don't understand Sven's thinking here

He said before the game that he was starting with Rooney/Defoe as that was the likely line up against Wales with Owen being suspended.
So now he replaces Defoe with Owen!

Surely if you are planning for the next qualifier you look to play the side for that game and make minimum substitutions as well.

Has he never played Fm2005?! (dunno)

Don't England have an agreement with the clubs that they'll not play certain players the full 90 to keep em fresh for the weekends Prem game.
Maybe that's why? It's only a friendly, don't worry about it.
