Don't understand why some England fans are complaining.

Yes the 1st half wasn't inspiring but the 2nd half was sublime. Roy got it spot on tactically. The 3 subs Vardy, Rashford and Sturridge were a joy to watch. If we can get the best out of those 3 we can go far in this tournament. K.Walker also had an immense game.

We had the upper hand all game, especially when the 3 subs came on.

It takes great characther to come from behind in a major tournament. No one would have an easy game against this Welsh side, even the likes of Spain and Germany. Most of the current Wales crop are Premier League quality- Ledley, Allen, A.Williams, Taylor, Davies, Chester just name a few, plus two world class players in Ramsey & Bale so anyone who suggests we should have strolled to a 3,4,5 nil win are dead wrong. Just ask Slovakia.

Anyway this was a tremendous victory and all concerned deserve praise. A last minute winner in a local derby that takes us top of the group.... if you can't be positve after that when can you be?

    Get behind em for once!!!!

Should have started with Vardy. Sterling should be playing on his x box in Peckham.

I agree mate. Even in the first half we were absolutely dominant, just again slightly lacking in and around their penalty area. Good sides grow into a tournament, and whilst I'm not saying we'll win it, we've generally been very enjoyable to watch. Comfortable on the ball, and purposeful going forward. Compared with the usual turgid England of the last 15 years it's been a breath of fresh air, even if our finishing has been wayward, and we've conceded two very daft goals. Some people think we should be smashing so called "lesser" teams 3 and 4 nil. Just a little reminder that no team in this tournament has won by a margin of more than two goals, and the vast majority of games have only had a goal in them. And that had fate been looking the other way, France could so very easily be sitting on one point gained from matches against two of the supposed worst teams in the tournament. All of this goes to show that the overall standard is incredibly high - and that can only be a good thing.

The only issue is that we need that level of intensity from the start, rather than at 1-0 down. We're going to face much tougher teams than Wales in this tournament who won't afford us to have such a slow start. That team in the 2nd half is capable of winning a lot of games. That one in the first half, isn't.

I genuinely don't think the issue was one of intensity, more one of confidence that the good approach play and possession could be converted into something meaningful. Kane looked exhausted, Sterling's confidence is clearly shot, and after Sterling missed his sitter you got the feeling that even the players were starting to believe that they weren't going to score. They were rightly replaced at half time, and in the end we got our rewards. Playing with high intensity from the start is great if you get the early goal (BFC v Millwall), but is virtually impossible to keep up for 90 minutes (BFC v Millwall again!), especially in the summer. You're absolutely right that we will face better teams than Wales, but they're a very decent side in my opinion. France are going to face much better sides than Romania and Albania, and Germany looked very ordinary against Poland. In fact, the only standout team for me so far was Italy, though Belgium were extremely disappointing. This tournament is absolutely impossible to call, and as I mentioned in another thread, that's a great thing.
