"BREAKING NEWS: Dougie Freedman leaves Crystal Palace after nearly two years as manager. All the latest on #SSN" From Twitter/sky
bloody wonderful, a tanking for us tonight then thats what normally happens when a manager leaves , the caretakers teamhave a sudden upsurge in form.Lets just hope this time its the complete reverse.
He's made the right choice. He will be on more money and thanks to parachute payments he will have more to spend. Palace were screwing him around that with six wins out of eight they had still not opened contract talks despite him being out of contract at the end of this season. In the long run Bolton will be in a better league position than Palace and have a much better ground. He's got more of a chance of managing in the prem with Bolton than if he had stayed where he were.
There are also quite a few conspiracy theorists on the Palace boards who seem to think the board really wanted him to go ( backed up by lack of new contract talks amongst other things) - if he wasnt feeling wanted there it definitely makes sense for him to go somewhere where he is actually wanted.
The Palace forum is a great read right now Talking about him no longer being a legend, having a lack of loyalty etc. Can only imagine this BBS if the day came when Sir Bobby would openly want to leave us for another team off his own back.
The game is officially nuts. Eight games back he was about to get the chop. He's lost as many as he's won at Palace. One short run of form and he's suddenly in demand. Bonkers.
Regardless of whether they're playing us tonight - what a strange move that is. One that is no doubt completely motivated by money. Palace are doing well in the league and have a chairman who is willing to spend money when required - Bolton have been punching well above their weight (not that there is anything wrong with that, they've done well) for ages now, I can't see them getting back into the Premier any time soon.
95 goals in 330 games during two periods with them. Done alright as a manager for them and played in the prem for them. Yet now he's not longer their Sir or Legend, he's a judas and being called Greedman. It's all quite funny.
As much as Bobster is a legend, I do have a bit of a groan when he comes on now, doesn't seem to be able to keep up - although I do think that's more to do with him not playing week in week out like he used to.
