Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie has left his position as manager of the Eagles by mutual consent. The 41-year-old had been in charge at Selhurst Park since December 2003. Dowie was reported to have fallen out with Palace chairman Simon Jordan after the club missed out on immediate promotion back to the Premiership. Dowie has been linked with the jobs at Middlesbrough, Charlton and Ipswich and with Preston too, should boss Billy Davies leave Deepdale this summer. The North End manager has been granted permission to speak to Charlton and will meet with the Addicks on Monday. Palace finished sixth in the Championship but were beaten 3-0 over two legs in the play-offs by eventual winners Watford.
