leaving contracts for players until next week. colgan, hassell, mcphail, reid etc should already be signed up for next season and beyond. but noooooooooo the board think its alright to leave it until after saturday. well if we lose it will be ANOTHER pre season of rebuilding. so much for our plans.
Yup... ...sign em up - put em on Championship wages when its still possible we could be playing League 1 - good sense that mate!! Shep is doing the right thing - the players they want will know they're wanted
Personally I'd... Offer contracts with one amount for if we win promotion and a lesser amount for if we stay in this division. Don't see what's difficult about that. Most contracts have relegation and promotion clauses in them.
RE: Personally I'd... Would be pointless. They wouldn't sign it until they knew what league they were in (and hence what their wages were). That way they cover themselves in case we don't go up and another club come in with more money/higher league.
You're assuming they want to leave if we don't go up In an interview a month or so ago Paul Reid said that he wanted to stay no matter which division we were in and if he was offered a contract he'd sign it.
RE: You're assuming they want to leave if we don't go up He certainly did, it was misen who asked him the question.
RE: You're assuming they want to leave if we don't go up Aye your plan works for them that'll stay regardless, reward their loyalty and all that. But it wouldn't do much for McPhail or anyone else who 's looking to play at the higher level. So no matter what the contract says it won't make a difference if we don't make it.
But we will, so its all irrelevant!

I reckon McPhail's a bit of a dark horse. Looks a bit soft, but in a ruck I bet he's a bit tasty. No hair pulling or that, but I bet he's not averse to the odd kick or headbutt.
