You cannot be expected to go every week , if you work, got the kids, ill, money probs, live too far away, going on hols, family probs etc etc. However if you live in Barnsley with no problems and you are just lazy, sat at home or down the supermarket or pub, basically not at oakwell at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon whislt the reds are at home. You should be ashamed.
Agreed Woe betide you for doing what you want to do! I've got a season ticket so go to all the home league games - but I'll be giving the League Cup game against MK Dons a miss and I'll feel thoroughly ashamed of myself!
I agree. There are people in that category. I also knew that as soon as he posted it the umbrage brigade would be out trying to see who lives furthest from Oakwell before sarcastically rebuking themselves. I honestly didn't read anything else into DB's post that implied that he was referring to any other kind of "fan" than the "big match only" supporter who has no valid excuse (geography, work or family commitments, money etc) and simply chooses not to go. I have never much time for these people, and I don't see why DB gets called an arsehole by all and sundry for standing up and saying it.
Is It OK to pick and chose which films to see at the cinema? Just wondering because I only select certain films to see - I guess that makes me a part time movie fan.
Same goes for plays at my local theatre as well. Part time theatre fan me.
Oh and I only managed to get to one Barnsley game so far this season for a variety of personal reasons the question is if I pay for a ticket for every home game but dont go to many does that make me a part time fan?

But the criteria set out by the proper fans don't allow for 'not liking football.' According to them, everyone who isn't skint or dead should be down at Oakwell for every game.
But if they dont like football What were they doing at Cardiff?
Oh hang on supporting a local team in an important game if you dont even like football - not sure where that puts you - seems quite impressive to me

RE: But if they dont like football They set a precedent, though. Going to Cardiff means you have to go to every match from then on in. Those are the rules, apparently.
