    Not to mention only a 4 year ban from diving. Surely a 3rd conviction should be a lifetime driving ban

    We're far too tolerant of offences of this nature. Like you quite rightly say a third conviction for drink driving should have carried a lifetime ban.

    And a prison sentence ,I know he has drink problems but to then get in a car and attempt to drive he,s a menace.

    The first time you are caught drink driving, regardless of who you are, your licence should be taken off you indefinitely and you should serve at least 1 month in prison.

    Nope, a short prison sentence and loss of licence should be enough to stop them being stupid enough to put other people's lives at risk.
