and that was how clear the motorway was in South Yorkshire......

I know they'd had the snow first and had more time to clear it.... but after the parkway the motorway was clear. So I must congratulate them for the effort!!

Unlike the road further south which were a disgrace...... We saw at least 15 snow ploughs heading south but nothing on the north lanes.....

It had been forecast for nearly 2 weeks but still we experience near lethal roads conditions. Such and important road covered with up to 2/3 inches of snow just wouldn't happen in any other civilised country!!

Normally I would have avoided going out in such conditions, so this was the first time I have experienced just how bad we allow it to get on the motorways to get..... didn't we learn anything from the bad weather last year?? I'm a fairly confident driver but that drive home scared me to death.... so next time I'll just stand the cost of the ticket and be stopping at home!!

Think South Yorkshire got off lightly with the snow. Not even enough to go sledging Sunday morning.

They was gritting the M1 at 11 o'clock Saturday morning ready for the snow to come.
