(hatsoff)If the players trained on Thursday, it was very poor planning from the man at the top.

If the players got the day off on Thursday (dunno),it was a verypoor excuse of a response saying they were tired at Coventry.

Sat on a coach into the early hours of Thursday. So that night's sleep was bolloxed. Of course, they'll have had nothing to do all day Thursday... Then train Friday and up Saturday to go to Coventry.
Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.

Have to agree on this one.
I know the Club complained about having the Plymouth game moved to Wednesday. But that means they knew the possible effect that would have on the players. So why we didn't stay in Plymouth on Wednesday and book into a Hotel in the Midlands on Thursday and Friday night? Only Simon Davey and Gordon Shepared can tell us that.
I wonder if the players had any say in this? Over night stays are not very popular with players.

FFS They had all day thursday to rest, light training on friday, a stay overnight friday night and 3 pm kick off on saturday. That's what I call a pretty easy preperation for a game to me. If they were tired, a fooking coach journey home is not the reason. I cummuted to work this morning and I'm feeling a bit tired. Perhaps I should have stayed overnight half way? I might go home. :'(
RE: FFS Well then tell us why they were knackered if it had nothing to do with coach travel.
I once had a chat with Les Lea about this years ago and he said it took 3-4 Days for him to fully recover from a hard match.

You'd have thought if they were that tired they wouldn't have been out boozing all Saturday night and they'd have been in bed. All this tired crap is a load of knackers, a soft excuse for a **** spineless display.
RE: FFS As important as anything in training for any physical/athletic activity is rest. Not the sort of rest gained from sitting on a coach for approx 4 hours. Mentally as well, they need to recover.
Personally, I'd get the 1st team squad away for a few days in the fortnight they've got off to refresh them for the crucial run in we have coming up.

I wonder whether our club requested the midweek fixture for plymouth like the FA claims some clubs who put thei bank balance ahead of their fans do to save money.
IMHO It was a tough game at Plymouth and a day less to recover (as it was played on a wednesday) rather than the coach journey back that made them tired. If you stopped half way you'd get there at about 1 am. You'd have to check out the hotel by 10 am the next day and then have another couple of hours travel on the thursday. I'd much rahter get back at 3 am and then stay in bed for as long as I want on the thursday.
Them and 90% of teams in the league La Manga It doesn't matter who the manager is, not much has changed since Lars Leese was at the club. Stick 20 blokes in a hotel for a couple of nights and they'll get bored and find ways to entertain themseleves ... that will usually involve beer.
Most other league managers can't stop their players drinking and getting into trouble on team hotel stops. I'd be amazed if Davey was the exception.
