My first ever job was at the Health Department in Donny and a leading Doctor there always advocated
that the use of drugs should not be criminalised. She thought if they were legalised and prescribed by
professionals, people with an addiction could be registered on programmes to try to eventually wean them off
drugs in the hope they could be cured. Prosecuting and jailing those with a drug dependency doesn't appear to
be working and the supply of drugs is a major cause of crime, so perhaps trying some other approach, might deserve
    a try.

A lot of countries economies are not only subsidised by the sale/ transport of drugs but also the criminality of it .
The McMafia series lately highlighted a small insight into how the new age criminals operate .
The criminality highers the prices and controls demand

Legalise em, treat addiction as a health issue and not a criminal issue. Watch the documentary The House I Live In (was available on Netflix, not sure if it still is) if you are on the fence or disagree.
