why are the Americans spending 50 odd billion quid on a new spacecaft to go to the moon.

50 odd billion surely be put to better use down here on this rock.

this money would be able to wipe out a huge amount of world debt, feed millions of people who are starving in the world, provide homes, shelter etc... for people who haven't got them.

spending 50 billion for a few people to walk on the surface of the moon is way too much and what use is it going to be?

its just wrong, america is just wrong.

cos they never went to the moon back in 1969 it was all staged and these programmes about conspiracies seem able to prove it was all a con

On the face of it then it appears wrong.
However a lot has been learnt from space travel about our own planet, a lot of technology has come about as a result. The effects of hurricanes such as Katrina would almost certainly have been a lot worse withut space travel as it is that technology that has enabled us to have weather satellites in space so that these storms can be tracked. One comment I saw when many people had managed to evacute was "that is the value of the space programme".
And I think I read somewhere that the space programme only costs $50 a year per US citizen.

The conspiracy theories have been proved to be just that - theories, not fact.

Yes, we all know that the moon is actually cheese.

*looks at your profile picture* :pff

Perhaps the money could be spent in a better way, but hey, we're talking about the US government here. Should they spend it on nuclear weapons and missiles and tanks instead?
Exploring space might be a good idea, because if we keep destroying our planet like we do now, we'll have to live elsewhere in 100 years!
Besides, I really want to go to space during my lifetime, so they'd better hurry up! (H)

    LOL

It was eight years ago, worst goal difference in Premiership history, five of the worst ten defeats in Premiership history and you want to brag about it?

Hows about living in the present. Will you start to mention the FA CUp win in 1912 next?
