I know, go to a proper forum, but youse lot always seem to know technical **** so I'm going to try here as well

I want to buy a DVD recorder/player that will play DivX, so I can watch avi files of Lost and Prison Break in the comfort of the lounge. I don't want to be constantly burning them to DVD so I'd like to copy them to a USB memory device and plug em in to the DVD

I also have a camcorder with a Firewire port, and I'd like to be able to record my films to DVD.

Trouble is all the DVD recorders have Firewire ports but don't have USB ports, and all the DVD players that have USB ports are not recorders and don't have firewire ports.

The simplest solution would appear to be buy a recorder with a firewire port and a Firewire/USB adapter. I've found USB to Firewire adapters on the Internet for sale, but everything I read says the two technologoies are not compatible.

    Anyone have experience of this?

Plus. Is it as simple as burnin gthe avi file to DVD and sticking it in a DivX compatible DVD player?
