My old DVD recorder is on its last legs and i want a cheap replacement. I have 2 options (both from Argos):- i) Lite-on DVD recorder £70 (included in 30 day money back g'tee) ii) Wharfedale DVD recorder with 80GB Hard drive £100 (excluded from 30 day money back g'tee) I currently have Sky movie package for 3 months (£1 per month) so i am recording as many films as possible to watch at some point in the future. Does anyone have experience with DVD recorders with Hard Drives and Sky. Assuming I record movies onto the hard drive, can i then burn them to DVD later, or is it a once-only choice at recording time i.e. I must choose DVD or Hard Drive and the recording is stuck there. Anyone have any experience with these brands. Thanks
I've got a Liteon with 80Gb hard drive on it - excellent machine. You can record either to the hard drive or DVD and transfer from one to the other. Best thing is to record to the hard drive, then you can edit it chopping out the ads etc and transfer to DVD.
Thanks Eastander. I can't decide whether to go for the Lite-on (£30 cheaper, established brand, but no Hard Drive) or the Wharfedale (£30 dearer, 80GB hard drive, but unestablished name in DVD Recorders - and can't take it back if i don't like it). Suppose I could try the Wharfedale and if i don't like it, tell Argos it is faulty and ask to swap to Lite-on !
Not in Argos in my price range. A colleague at work has a Liteon but paid about £200 for it. I wanted a cheap one cos the last two i have had have both lasted less than 18 months
