Don't know how good it is but......

on QVC a week ago they were spouting on about a Lite-On dvd recorder at £119.
Apparently it was a + version, which is ok so don't worry about that, and also plays all cds, mp3s, etc.
I know nowt about LiteOn so check on google for reviews, but if it's ok then I'd go for one of those, don't know about the price you'd find them at.
What pisses me off is that a couple of years ago dvd recorders were best part of 500 notes when I got one !!!!!!!!!
You can buy + dvd blank discs in tower packs of 50 for about £15-£20 and rewritable ones for a bit more.
    Hope this helps a bit.

The deck market is still a bit cr@ppy. I've been using an LG deck for over a year now and sometimes it can be a reight bag o' Colgan - "unknown error" - WTF?

Get one with a hard-disk in. Probably a Panasonic. Then yer can record stuff, mek sure it's reight, then transfer it onto disc.

The Lite On one as recommended by David in Lincoln is the best budget one. Avoid other cheapos.

Have had a dvd recorder for years now and have just got another one this week. Have had Philips up to now but have had nothing but trouble with them. They seem to work ok for a few months then refuse to recognise any discs. After reading all the reviews from magazines and users etc I have bought a Panasonic DMR-ES10 and am really pleased with it (£179 from Currys online store). It supports four of the main five disc formats and even allows you to pause live TV while recording. It seems a very robust machine and has won many "Best Buy" awards. It looks really good too and I would certainly recommend this one to you.

Get one for £20 from Tesco's

When it breaks, buy another one.

Don't waste £300 on a fancy one. Even recordable ones, lets face it you never get round to watching anything you record anyway.

I bought a £27 one about 18 months ago. I watched 5 DVD's and then it broke. This was about a year later. 3 months after that I wanted to watch another DVD. I went to the 24 hour tesco's and bought another one for £20 ish. And a bottle of wine and some tins, nacho's, chocolate etc. The food and wine cost more than the DVD player.

I haven't watched another DVD on the new one since. I wonder if it still works.
