    No

NTSC is the usa standard - in Britian we use the PAL standard.
The chances are that if the DVD is in NTSC format it will also be region 1

So unless the DVD player is multiregion it wont work

Thank you - what would a multi region dvd look like? Would a laptop play multi region?

Not sure how to answer that question

If you mean the DVD itself - you cant actually buy a multiregion DVD - it will be set for a region depending where in the world it expected to be played. But they all look exactly the same apart from the label

If you mean the player - again they look the same- all almost all DVD players can play all regions but they are usually preset to the region in which they are sold. usually they can be "hacked" to make them multi-region but some are much easier than others to convert. Its usually easier to buy one that someone has already done for you.

You need to set up laptops to play a particular region - you can change it only 5 times then you are stuck with whichever you selected the 5th time.

You can get software which bypasses the region but not sure which one is the best - not free - around £20 or so

Thanks, I think I meant how would I tell it was a multi region player - are they commonly available?

    2 types of "multi-region" players

    1. Those that have been internally modified
    2. Those which you have a code to enter using the remote which accesses an hidden menu from which you can alter the region.

I'd recommend the 2nd, I have one that I set to region 0 which is multi-region and it plays virtually anything. I have 1 or 2 US discs that won't work with this so I then access the menu to set to Region 1 (US) in this instance.

Richer sounds are good for them.

They are usually advertised as such.

I have had a multi region for years and recently purchased another off amazon at an amazing price of £24. I have DVDs regions 1 and 2 as I travelled in my work quite a bit. Simply pop it in and it automatically finds the region- no codes or otherwise.

Incidentally you can change most computers from Region to another but you are only allowed so many goes which means you could be stuck with one region and knowing Barnsley fans luck - the wrong one. Bit like some of our players. Comet told me its illegal to sell multi region players but there are many firms who sell them.

    Good luck

As usual Comet salesman was talking ******

Its not illegal to sell multi-region players - though most manufacturers discourage it. Its quite hard to find multiregion players in the high street. Much easier to get them online.

I got one from Amazon a couple of years ago for £70 - but now they are pocket money!

its usually 5 goes changes with Laptops
