    Not often I ask, so...

Just reformatted my HDD, and installed everything again.

I'm trying to write a DVD using Nero (Vers 6). Although it's saying it is writing at X8 speed, it's taking 40 mins to write - so it obviously isn't.

Alcohol 120% is set to write at maximum too, but that says it's actually writing at X1.5ish.

I've tried both -&+ DVD media, with the same results. Any ideas anyone?

Tatts............I know that people swear by Nero but I've never used it. I use NTI CD/DVD Gold and have never had a problem. I'm sure there must be a shareware edition ont net somewhere. Give it a try.

    Nar then you old bugger

Check in your HArdware properties under IDE ATA/ATAPI and check all your channels are set to DMA if Available under the advanced settings. Sounds like your channel with the DVD writer on may be set to PIO.

If not that go to ICQ and I'll send you the latest ASPI update.

    Gerron line then!

Oscar - that DVD Gold looks ok, but it's not what I need at the moment though :S

    Sorted it

It was stuck in PIO - like Jax said.

Wouldn't change to DMA mode. Deleted the secondary IDE channel, let it find it again, and it's fine now.
