How unpatriotic of you to suggest a story like this should have higher priority than ones shaming anyone not flying a Union Jack in their front garden.

I’m really losing the will to be associated with this country.

I think this I saw on Twitter today sums it up pretty well

Had to allow myself a wry smile whilst passing Dodworth police station this evening. Union Jack flying proudly outside, but no police presence inside. Gesture politics at its best.

This is old news though - newspapers were full of these stories whilst they were happening.

There was tons of pressure through the organisation to sanction claimants, and when it came to light, the ministers were able to claim that there was no directive from them. And this article still provides no proof that ministers were involved.

I have absolutely no idea how they managed it! But it was clear to local managers that they were to run a very tight sanctions regime, and yet any written records of this only existed at regional level.

It's obvious to a casual observer that the sanctions regime is very much driven by politics, note there's no change of law here, no written policy, it just 'happens' when the tories think they can get away with it.

I just cannot believe this story. To even suggest that a Conservative-led government would do such things to the weakest, most vulnerable people in society is laughable. God bless the Tories. I'll certainly be voting for more of their empathy and compassion next time round.
