https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2025/january/09/club-statement/ Become known as Everton Nill lately with their only goal in their past five games being against Man City. That said it's weird sacking someone on the day of a game and not even thanking him in their statement. He cannot have done much better. The cash has gone by previous bosses wasting a few hundred million and now the new ground.
https://x.com/Everton/status/1877393619339935773?t=IDMEAkNw57SPlZFL1aC-EQ&s=19 That statement is pretty brutal, no thanks for keeping them up last season despite a 10 point deduction. Dyche has had very little money to spend due to the financial implications and mismanagement by Moshiri. He was under contract until the EOS so I thought they'd have kept him and then looked to freshen things up in the summer with a move to the new stadium, fresh start etc. Talk of Mourinho going there. If he does then I'd give him a season at the most before he falls out with the club! It would be funny if they got relegated!
Hopefully they’ll nick Danny Rohl and Wednesday then appoint Wayne Rooney. We can but dream. I’ve always thought that if a grizzly bear could speak it would sound like Sean Dyche.
Mourinho would come in and sign a few players. They'd have a great season and then the wheels fall off in the second season.
I understand why many of the fans wanted a change as the football is dull but if you keep having to cut costs every season for about 6 in a row is scraping survival with attritional football really an underachievement? I do think it’ll be hilarious if they start life in their new stadium in the championship.
He has a good track record for unwatchable football. Highly disciplined, 2 banks of 4 etc. I’m sure the Everton fans will be hoping for a far more progressive manager.
Be careful what you wish for. You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. We been trying that method a few years now
Coleman and Baines in the dugout tonight. Be interesting to see what they do tactically... two fullbacks.
A progressive manager is no good unless he’s backed. Burnley regularly had the lowest budget in the league when he managed them & Everton are the only club in the league that have consistently made money on transfers since Dyche took over.
If I was an Everton fan I’d be very worried watching this tonight. There’s no positive reaction from the players to Dyce getting the sack. They look really flat.
Credit to him being honest with the board, when he could have just carried on taking his wage when his heart was no longer in it.
I think it's quite harsh on him, given his resources and the players available at the clubs he's been at, he's done extremely well. Especially last season. Some of their signings are shocking. I actually think he does play pretty decent football when given the tools Rohl would be a good appointment. But would need a lot of backing I reckon, but if they did go down I'd be confident he'd take them straight back up (although to be fair, I think my nan would). Wednesday's squad was crap and Rohl worked wonders, so perhaps he can replicate it in a higher league.
